Position Summary
This position has a high level of responsibility and serves as the primary administrative resource for graduate studies, faculty affairs, and strategic initiatives within the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. This role also serves as the liaison between CAES and its departments and other University units regarding graduate studies and faculty affairs. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, Faculty Affairs, and Strategic Initiatives.
Overall duties include representing CAES graduate programs to various stakeholders. This includes support for recruiting activities, coordination with the graduate program directors and support staff across CAES departments on the Athens, Griffin, and Tifton campuses. The Director will be involved in student ambassador activities and supervises them in connection with outreach activities related to graduate recruiting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Excellent computer skills, including UGA systems related to Graduate Studies and Faculty Affairs, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Extensive knowledge of the requirements of graduate degree programs offered in CAES
  • Organizational skills, self-motivated, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills as well as a positive, collaborative approach to working with faculty, students, and colleagues
  • Thorough knowledge of UGA policies and procedures related to academics and faculty

Graduate Studies Coordination

  • Provide support for existing online graduate programs and participate in the development of new programs
  • Support interdepartmental graduate program initiatives
  • Responsible for the creation and management of master calendar of graduate programs events and deadlines through partnership with the CAES departments
  • Work with international graduate program partnerships and develop relationships with stakeholders for new programming

Faculty Affairs Operations & Project Management

  • Develop and coordinate in-person and virtual workshops, events, cohort programs, and other faculty development series and resources for CAES by working with UGA's Office of Faculty Affairs and various CAES departments to provide appropriate resources
  • Support the Associate Dean with operational functions of Faculty Affairs

Strategic Initiatives Coordination & Other Duties

  • Assist with faculty honorifics across CAES
  • Coordinate and provide leadership on special projects as assigned by the Associate Dean
  • In partnership with OAFA staff, event coordination and management
  • Prepare and submit academic program review, enrollment, and assessment reports related to graduate studies
  • Supervise Administrative Specialist by providing coaching and professional development, annual performance evaluation, and guidance for support of the programming under OAFA
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role
