Connecting and Protecting People, Microwave Products Group (MPG) is a leading global provider of mission-critical engineered electronic components and subsystems comprised of five business units in six manufacturing locations. Our expertise is the design and manufacture of communications-based specialty products - engineered components and subsystems - for demanding military, space, commercial aerospace/industrial, and telecom infrastructure applications where function and reliability are crucial.

This position has full P&L responsibility for Spectrum Operations and must work closely with business development and site leaders to meet key objectives. Those objectives include technical innovation, business development and product portfolio expansion. The primary applications for these systems are in the intelligence and defense markets. This person will lead a multi-site team which operates from Austin, TX, Columbia, MD and various remote employees. The candidate will report directly to the President of MPG.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for achieving site revenue and EBIT targets by ensuring operational efficiency, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction

  • Leads the site to meet goals while sustaining a high-performance culture built on trust, transparency and employee engagement

  • Work within MPG on strategies to optimize the business over the long term by proposing and justifying specific strategic approaches

  • Increases management's effectiveness by communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities

  • Accomplishes objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections

  • Provide input to the Operating Company's (MPG) strategy, particularly related to reducing product lead time and on-time-delivery, while improving margins.

  • Gain insights on site from financial and operating report reviews

  • Recommend wage changes and personal bonus achievement levels for direct reports and review/approve wage changes and bonus achievement for all reports below your direct reports(within DOA)

  • Recommend and approve (within DOA) expenditure for capital equipment

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of operations, overseeing that work is accomplished by the managers and supervisors, and that it is consistent with corporate policies and objectives

  • Collaborate with Sales organization to ensure that communication with customers on everything from capacity to OTD is accurate and does not surprise our customers

  • Work with engineer manager to advance product capabilities and design for manufacturing improvementshardware and/or ease of customer use for software

  • Conduct regular leadership team meetings

  • Work with technical and business development leaders to drive strategic and technological investments

  • Overall responsibility for the training, growth, motivation and success of the staff. Including, interviewing, hiring, driving objectives throughout the organization, creating a culture of respect between all employees, responding to employee feedback, addressing systemic complaints

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

BS/BA in Engineering or Business Operations or applicable technical field required. 10 years of commercial and operations experience including minimum of seven years progressive management experience in a high-mix / low-volume business with revenue at approximately $30M. Experience with budgeting, setting personal goals, achieving site level results, and objective based performance management. Core competencies are:

  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards

  • Minimum of six years of experience in DoD markets with P&L responsibilities

  • Most recent P&L responsibility must be >$35M

  • Proven business development success

  • MBA is desired

  • Deep understanding of SIGINT systems, particularly signal monitoring, with deep understanding of risk, trade-offs, as well as current and emerging technology

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Decisive and timely decision making

  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset

  • Will need to gain knowledge of site and company products

  • Superior organizational skills

Work Arrangement : Onsite

Pay Range: - annually

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
