Overview
Department of World Languages and Cultures, College of Humanities & Social Sciences. Entry-level Assistant Professor (Japanese). This is a tenure-track teaching position.

This Assistant Professor (Japanese) position is located in Logan, Utah, which is situated in a spectacular Rocky Mountain valley approximately one and one-half hour drive north of Salt Lake City.

Responsibilities
Successful candidate for this position will teach a full range of college courses in Japanese; perform service for the department, college, and university; mentor students inside and outside regular teaching hours; and maintain an active profile as a researcher in Japanese studies.

Qualifications
Candidates must have: PhD in Japanese language, education, or a related field; Native or near-native Japanese language proficiency; good English communication skills; demonstrated ability to teach all levels of Japanese language, literature, and culture; demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research and publish results of research; evidence of teaching and professional excellence in Japanese language teaching; previous experience teaching undergraduate Japanese classes and the ability to develop new courses for students of Japanese; ability and willingness to pursue program development; willingness to pursue program development; and willingness to foster ongoing bilateral exchange programs with Japanese partner universities. (Required skills and publication/presentation requirements may be earned during advanced educational studies.) Preferred qualifications include commitment and experienced working with students from various backgrounds: and familiarity with the North American higher education system.
