DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience for students pursuing careers in public relations, communications, agriculture, photography marketing, and animal science. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Communications Office by engaging in a variety of tasks. Responsibilities will include including gathering daily news clips, drafting and pitching press releases, capturing, editing, and posting photographs from events, as well as planning, promoting, and staffing various activities. Additionally, the intern will assist with managing social media content-creating posts (photo and video), scheduling updates, and engaging with audiences across platforms to enhance event visibility and audience engagement. The internship also offers the opportunity to engage in storytelling throughout the show, allowing the intern to develop communication skills and gain insights into the dynamic field of agricultural communications.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This employment period will begin January 8, 2026 and continue through the Farm Show which will be held January 10-17, 2026.
- Evenings and weekends are required
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors:

Public Relations -
Marketing -
Animal Science -
Photography -
Agricultural Science -
Digital Marketing
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment as a full-time student at a Pennsylvania college or university.
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
