THE POSITION

If you have experience in skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, bridges, and various types of equipment, the Department of Transportation's Greene County Maintenance Organization has an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for a committed individual to join us as a Maintenance Repairman 2, where your contributions will be vital in keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of our County's infrastructure.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will undertake a range of responsibilities, including performing repairs on facilities and bridge structures, which involves constructing forms and finishing concrete. You will travel to various stockpiles within the county as needed for repairs. Your tasks will also encompass painting and decorating building interiors, as well as executing masonry work related to buildings, bridges, foundations, walkways, and walls. Additionally, you will install and maintain plumbing fixtures, which includes measuring, cutting, threading, and installing pipes for water lines. You will be responsible for drawing rough plans, estimating material quantities, and specifying and placing materials for assigned projects. Routine duties may involve repairing or replacing lights, plumbing fixtures, valves, switches, broken glass, and servicing clogged plumbing, as well as replacing doors and making interior alterations such as erecting or removing partitions. Furthermore, you will inspect and perform minor repairs on roofs and operate necessary adjustments on air conditioning units, generators, and other building appliances as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
