Description UNC Medical Center is hiring New Grad Nurses to join our Pulmonary/Infectious Disease Team! 6 Bedtower is a 31-bed medicine floor that provides quality acute care for patients with pulmonary and infectious diseases. The unit is equipped with dual channel telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry and cares for patients who are HIV positive, those who have respiratory diseases, and adults with cystic fibrosis. This unit is the proud recipient of the Beacon Gold Award for Excellence designated by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Recipients of a Beacon designation demonstrate excellence in sustained unit performance and patient outcomes. This position is 36 hours per week with day/night and weekend rotation. Self-scheduling to meet the individual and department needs. It is expected that candidates will be eligible to practice as an RN in North Carolina prior to their first day of employment. In order to qualify for the UNC Medical Center New Graduate Residency program, candidates must be currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have recently graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. This a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse. It is expected that a successful candidate will have their nursing license before the first day of employment. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
