Meal Transporter (Local Government) (Part-Time) - Wayne County Area Agency on Aging

In this part-time, on-call position, you will have the chance to help us provide hot or frozen meals to older adults who are temporarily or permanently confined to their homes as well as satellite senior centers. As a part-time, on-call Meal Transporter, you have the opportunity to support our team by delivering a meals and greatly impacting seniors' lives through your conversation. Our team will rely on you to be in contact with the senior center clerk to provide updates, concerns, and pertinent consumer information. Your work will involve managing multiple tasks, paying close attention to detail in challenging work environments, staying organized, and meeting deadlines. Responsibilities include:

• Completing log sheets.
• Following sanitation and safety guidelines when handling meals (meals could weight up to 50 pounds).
• Ensuring hot or frozen food items are kept in compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Delivering food and/or meals using vehicle. (Average 150 miles per day).
• Moving hot, bulk and/or frozen meals from loading dock.
• Transporting meals or surplus/pantry food.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time, on-call employment, 12 to 18 hours per week.
• Work day typically begins at 6:30 AM and will conclude when all meals for the day are delivered.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months of experience which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

• No suspension of driver's license within the last three years.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
