POSITION SPECIFICS

This position works in high-performance manufacturing computing systems to develop and maintain advanced software solutions for smart manufacturing systems, supporting the manufacturing programming and computational systems, database management and visualization of operational data. The successful candidate has some working knowledge of operational technology systems and their integration to IT systems to support the deployment, enhancement and maintenance of software applications used in high-performance manufacturing platforms.

  • Collaborating with the Digital Foundry team, corporate technology partners and manufacturing companies to define, develop, and demonstrate the integration of automation and control software with industrial PCs, process computing networks, and data storage systems including on-premise and cloud-based platforms.
  • Support and participate in industry and student projects and hands-on training activities by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for software issues, IT and OT hardware interfaces and technical challenges.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for software tools/applications used in the Digital Foundry, including user guides, technical specifications, and all university approvals and maintenance requirements to insure compatibility with operating systems and environment and compliance with IT patching, updates, and required documentation.
  • Participate in IT/OT and software project development and demonstrations, including proposal of new feature and updates, project management of schedule, deliverables and reporting, and introduction of new advancements and concepts.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
