Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The
HRIM Data and Reporting Analyst serves as a technical subject matter expert supporting the HR system (Banner) and downstream processes. This position requires a deep understanding of Banner HR data structure and dependencies, including security and setup tables in addition to transactional data.
Duties include:
- Implementation, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of HR reporting views and report design and development using tools such as SQL, SSDT and PowerBI.
- Managing the processes for several key compliance initiatives for UNCW, including, but not limited to, the monthly HR Datamart submissions and Affordable Care Act (ACA) process, ensuring that UNCW's data submissions are accurate and error free.
- Serving as the main point of contact for Office of Institutional Research on mandatory annual reporting requirements including IPED's and HERD.
- Preparing data for annual federal and state EEO reporting, and developing ad hoc reports as needed for both senior leadership and campus constituents.
- Acting as the data custodian for Human Resources and making determinations about data access, data views, and role assignments for Banner and SSRS.
- Maintaining data integrity in HR systems by running queries, analyzing data, and working with functional areas to educate and correct integrity issues through process improvement.
The
HRIM Data and Reporting Analyst utilizes strong analytical and sound decision making skills in supporting the day-to-day operations and various processes related to HR systems, including Banner and PeopleAdmin. This position oversees the maintenance of HR data (employee, validation tables, database set up) in the HR systems and provides leadership, guidance, and direction to the HR team to ensure accurate and timely processing of HR data. When problems are reported, this position uses analysis to determine and correct the root cause of the problem. Creates documentation and trains the functional users on data collection and/or changes to data collection processes. As a key member of
HRSPM team, this position collaborates with internal colleagues and with colleagues across campus to identify and implement process and system improvements, as well to ensure that data integrity and timeliness needs are met and that system interfaces are properly specified and tested. The position uses exceptional customer service skills and builds and maintains relationships with key constituents across the university. The
HRIM Data and Reporting Analyst is also responsible for the development and maintenance of consistent and accurate written documentation of HR systems, including processes, system modifications, enhancements, problems, interfaces, data dictionary maintenance, etc. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Management Information Systems, Business, HR or closely related discipline and 2 or more years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of relational databases and proficiency in development of both Oracle and SQL database queries.
- Experience managing and working with system data and various data sets.

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Management Information Systems, Business, HR or closely related discipline.
- 1 year or more of experience working with higher education ERP systems, preferably Ellucian Banner.
- 1 year or more of experience with programming and knowledge of SQL.
- Higher education experience and understanding of HR operations and business processes.
- Ability to develop complex reports using SSDT or similar tool
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, and practices of data collection, data entry, and report writing.
- Possess a high degree of accuracy and acute attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience with data management.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office.
- Advanced skills in Excel including the ability to perform v-lookups, create charts, and create pivot tables.
- Ability to compile, analyze and synthesize data into clear formatted reports and presentation.
- Exemplary customer service skills and demonstrated ability to establish good professional working relationships with a wide range of internal/external constituents.
- Ability to take initiative, problem solve, meet deadlines and provide accurate data and information.
- Demonstrated organizational, project and time management skills.
- Strong demonstrated quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills to problem solve independently.
- Ability to follow directions, work productively and stay engaged with a minimum amount of oversight.
