Combat Systems Test Area Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

This position would be responsible for maintaining build schedule to meet milestone requirements of all Combat System, EXCOMM, SI&T equipment, Navigation Equipment and all related support items in order to light off and test the systems in preparation for AEGIS Light Off (ALO) and trials events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • They would work closely with Navy AEGIS Test Team (ATT), SSBA, Lockheed Martin SI&T and other test organizations to develop and implement plans to meet all FFG milestones for the ships Combat Systems and related equipment.
  • They would assist in the development of the ships test plan and drive production and trials milestones on FFG.
  • Assist Engineering when needed with subject matter expert input into the development and design of the C4I/Combat Systems on board FFG.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of test plans to meet EMP/HEMP requirements onboard FFG. Help manage the testing, problem identification, repair and re-test of all topside penetrations in order to meet the Build Specification requirements on FFG.
  • Ability to work with internal customers and outside agencies such as NAVAIR, SWIT, IWS 1, Aegis Test Team, BUMED, PEO IWS, NIWC, SSBA, NSWC DD, FAA and PMS-515.
  • Identify, track, communicate, and coordinate problems and deficiencies impacting each certification and develop mitigation strategies as appropriate.
  • Coordinate Trials planning & conduct with the shipyard and other stakeholders for each certification.
  • Provide liaison with the Navy test community.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Expected to drive each ship to higher levels of completion
  • Coordinates with the key POC's for all certification activities in the yard
  • Responsible to supply input for out briefs and communications with internal and external parties
  • Monitors and coordinates completion of all trial cards written against the various hulls through the delivery that are tied to certifications and as directed by the Certification Manager.

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
