Responsibilities
Santa Rosa, in the heart of California's wine country, is home to Keysight's corporate headquarters and a diverse set of R&D labs. The Digital and Photonics R&D team designs and builds the world's highest-performance oscilloscopes. This internship places you on an oscilloscope product R&D team inventing and developing new measurements for optical and electrical signals used to transport high-speed data in transceivers at the core of modern cloud and internet services.
What You'll Do
Contribute to the full hardware lifecycle-requirements capture, investigation, product definition, design, implementation, test, production, and lifecycle maintenance. Design and develop electronic circuits to achieve specified functions. Test the performance of new hardware subassemblies and troubleshoot issues. Collaborate with engineers, customers, manufacturing, and software teams worldwide. Support a specific R&D project (scope scaled to your experience). Examples may include:
Building and modifying complete oscilloscope prototypes Testing and troubleshooting new product prototypes Assisting with leading-edge breadboard evaluation and turn-on
What We're Looking For
Rising senior undergraduate or master's candidate in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related field). Coursework or project experience in basic electronic circuits (amplifiers, mixers, ADC, DAC, etc.). Demonstrated interest or experience in digital, analog, RF, or microwave circuit design. Strong problem-solving and quantitative analysis skills; ability to learn quickly and work independently. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, thriving in a collaborative design environment.
Qualifications
Strong Pluses (Preferred Qualifications)
Exposure to signal-processing block diagrams such as phase-locked loops (PLLs), down-conversion chains, and/or ADC-based sampling architectures. Demonstrated examples of designs you have personally completed, validated, and tested. Familiarity with printed-circuit (PC) layout tools and circuit-simulation platforms (e.g., ADS or comparable software). Experience with one or more FPGA development environments. Hands-on experience using electronic test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, AWGs, etc.). Comfort with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and experience creating clear technical presentations.
