Job Description

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma- Woodward, OK Sunday-Tuesday 1800-0630

Essential Functions of Employment with DLO: Show up for work, on time & prepared each and every scheduled work day Perform all tasks and processes assigned to you including all tasks and processes you are fully qualified to perform and all tasks and processing that you may be over-qualified to perform Maintain a positive and supportive attitude throughout each and every scheduled work day & work as a collaborative team member with your fellow teammates on a daily basis

Responsible for performing routine and non-routine activities pertaining to laboratory testing and the reporting of results. Performs moderately difficult to complex tasks. Performs assigned analytical testing procedures in an accurate, precise, and timely manner.



Responsibilities:

  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens;
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs)
  • Review and release test results.
  • Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.



Qualifications:

  • BS in Medical Technology; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or
  • Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or
  • Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1489 published in March 14, 1990.
  • 1-year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.


Ability to maintain a professional, courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress. Teamwork with fellow employees is a must. Keyboard skills are important. Good customer service skills, professional appearance and attitude. Able to work any day including weekends and holidays; able to flex hours and work overtime for other shifts as needed.Show up for work, on time and prepared to perform all tasks and processes, each and every scheduled workday and to remain performing those duties throughout the entire assigned work schedule for that day. Perform all tasks and processes assigned by your immediate supervisor including all tasks and processes you are fully qualified to perform, and all tasks and processes assigned that you may be over-qualified to perform. Perform the previous two job duties/functions as a collaborative member of your work team and with a personal disposition that is positive and supportive of your fellow team members.

Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
  • Frequent walking and/or standing.
  • May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
