Responsibilities
As a Traveling Underground Foreman, you will support be responsible for supervising and leading a cable plow crew in the safe and efficient installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure. This role ensures all work meets quality standards, project deadlines, and safety requirements while maintaining clear communication with project managers, inspectors, and team members. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge. In addition, you will:
- Supervise and lead a crew in the operation of cable plows, trenchers, and related equipment for underground cable installation.
- Plan, coordinate, and delegate daily tasks to crew members, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Perform site inspections, assess conditions, and implement best practices to minimize hazards and disruptions.
- Interpret construction drawings, project specifications, and work orders to guide crew operations.
- Ensure all work meets MasTec standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain equipment, reporting mechanical issues and coordinating repairs as needed.
- Train, mentor, and support crew members in proper techniques, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate daily production logs, safety reports, and other required documentation.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact with project managers, inspectors, and clients.
- Promote and enforce compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards at all times.
Qualifications

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 1 year in a leadership or foreman role.
- Strong knowledge of cable plowing, trenching, and utility construction practices.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction plans, and work orders.
- Ability to operate and oversee heavy equipment such as cable plows, backhoes, and trenchers.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate a crew.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
- Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Travel Details
- Lodging paid and additional daily per diem.
- Schedule is full time with opportunity for overtime.
- Crews may be traveling throughout WA, MT, OR, ID, AZ, CO, and NV.
- Crews may be traveling up to 5 weeks on with 1 week off.
