Job Description

Position Summary:

The Tooling Supervisor supervisors and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining tooling specifically, but not limited, to forge. The supervisor provides technical support to engineering and manufacturing operations in the area of tools, fixtures, and machines to ensure low-cost and high-quality products.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned. In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with operations to ensure work orders are prioritized and completed with conforming tools. This includes reviewing the weekly forge schedule to ensure the required tooling is available.
  • Works closely with Forge Supervision to coordinate personnel with the daily delivery of tools to the forge units and preheat furnaces, ensuring that the tools to be delivered have accurate and complete markings.
  • Coordinate the disposition of rejected dies with Manufacturing Engineering and Metallurgy departments sending and retrieving tools
  • Assures that there is adequate inventory of consumables and equipment is properly maintained
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Maintains time and production records
  • Reviews and updates the "Tool Status Report" to ensure that tools are or will be ready for the next production start date.
  • Communicate with Management as required to provide data, and resolve operational and technical issues
  • Identify, research, and coordinate plans to resolve any internal quality issues
  • Maintain Quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards, and participate in MRB team meetings

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Schedule personnel ensuring proper training has been completed and equipment is available
  • Utilize Timekeeping System to maintain weekly record of hours worked, along with explanation of overtime hours worked and ensures hours worked, vacation, personal hours, absences, are correctly documented so employees are paid accurately
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems; initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals; enforces safety regulations; initiates and maintains 6S and Lean initiatives.
  • Has authorization with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a major in engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience to tooling or manufacturing engineering and/or training, preferably in a forging facility
  • At least one (1) year of supervision or scheduling/planning experience in the aerospace industry required

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $93,300 to $140,900 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
