Position Summary:
The Communications Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the NMDSI's brand awareness efforts, enhancing visibility among key stakeholders, and assisting with both internal and external communications. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in the field of communications and content creation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Brand Awareness Campaigns: Assist in the execution of brand awareness campaigns aimed at increasing visibility for NMDSI within Northwestern Mutual, academic partners, and external audiences.

• Content Creation: Develop innovative content to expand brand recognition. This includes writing website articles, creating event recaps, and exploring other forms of media.

• Performance Reporting: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for NMDSI communications to measure the effectiveness of strategies and initiatives.

• Collaboration and Scheduling: Schedule meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and support the NMDSI team in various communication initiatives.

• Interview and Content Development: Conduct interviews with Data Scientists and Engineers to create expert spotlights and other engaging content that highlights NMDSI's expertise.

• Basic Writing Tasks: Support the execution and implementation of communications work, handling basic writing tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee or Marquette University.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative content ideas.

• Basic understanding of performance metrics and reporting.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

• Familiarity with LinkedIn, newsletter structure, and website functionality.

• Familiarity with data science and technology is a plus, but not required.
