Nazareth University announces the opportunity to join a collegial team of faculty who value contributions to the success of students and the department. The University and Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invites applications for a full time clinical assistant professor position to begin January 2026. This position fulfills the responsibilities of the Graduate Practicum Coordinator (
GPC) in the
Communication Sciences & Disorders (
CSD) Department.
Nazareth's
CSD Graduate Practicum Coordinator (
GPC) oversees the fieldwork program for students enrolled in Nazareth's graduate Speech-Language Pathology program. As a full-time faculty member, the
GPC procures fieldwork sites, collaborates with fieldwork educators, and monitors student fieldwork progress via site observations in accordance with accreditation and licensure requirements set forth by
ASHA/
CAA and
NYSED. The
GPC also assumes some teaching and clinical education responsibilities in either the on-campus clinic(s) or in community settings. Teaching may include undergraduate and/or graduate level courses commensurate with their clinical experiences or specific to clinical methods. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: graduate student advisement, curriculum development, participation in program assessment, service to the Department and University, and maintaining an active engagement with
ASHA and certification/accreditation requirements.
The Nazareth
CSD Department comprises undergraduate and graduate programs, with graduate specialties in autism, deafness, early intervention, bilingual, and medical speech-language pathology. Graduate students can also earn the New York State Teacher of Students with Disabilities (
TSSLD) certificate and Bilingual Education (Spanish) extension. The department has 200+ students (85 graduate students) and 11 FT faculty. Interprofessional collaboration and education are hallmarks of Nazareth University. Our on-campus clinics are located in the state-of-the-art York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, a facility that also houses physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, and creative arts therapy clinics, in addition to our own Speech-Language Clinic, Neurogenic Communication and Cognition Clinic (NC3), and Audiology Clinic. Our many active on- and off-campus clinics provide opportunities for clinical supervision and clinically applied research endeavors. |
Essential Functions |

Required Education, Experience, Technology and Skills |
- Master's degree from an accredited CSD/SLP program
- Current ASHA certification in SLP (CCC-SLP); must have completed at least 2 hours of professional development in clinical instruction/supervision per ASHA guidelines.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an SLP in the New York State.
- All candidates should possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and computer skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- Previous clinical education and/or academic teaching experience.
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
- Leadership and/or mentorship experience in the clinical or school setting.
