Position Purpose
The Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) Sports Dietitian provides comprehensive nutrition support to varsity student-athletes and teams. This position reports to the Executive Associate Athletics Director for Peak Performance with dotted line reporting to the Coordinator of Nutritional Programs. As a member of the Sports Nutrition and DP2 teams, the DP2 Sports Dietitian is responsible for providing nutrition education and counseling to all varsity student-athletes and teams, managing the primary and satellite fueling station sites, and works with the Nutritional Wellness Team to provide or coordinate clinical care.

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or health related field.
  • At least one year of nutrition experience in a competitive athletic or tactical environment.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Licensed Dietitian in the state of New Hampshire within 30 days of hire.
  • Thorough knowledge of nutritional principles as they relate to athletic performance.
  • Knowledge of clinical nutrition and best practices in care for disordered eating.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to a range of stakeholders and a diverse population.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage student workers and volunteers.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a larger nutrition and integrated support team (IST).
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications
* Masters degree in nutrition, exercise science or related field.
* Board certified specialist in Sports Dietetics ( CSSD).
* Previous nutrition experience in an NCAA DI institution.

Description
Individual and Team Performance Nutrition

  • Provides individual education and counseling for varsity student athletes on optimal nutrition for training, competition, travel, recovery, weight management, hydration, supplementation, and immunity, translating the latest scientific evidence into practical recommendations.
  • Develops educational materials, presentations and learning opportunities for student athletes, performance staff, coaches, and teams on the above topics.
  • Works with coaches and operations personnel to identify and meet specific team nutritional needs for training and competition, such as on-site fueling options and sourcing, travel snacks, timing and sourcing of team meals, menu development.

Description
Dartmouth Peak Performance Integrated Support Team

  • Participates as part of the Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) interdisciplinary performance team to align efforts to support the holistic health, wellness, and development of student athletes.
  • Collaborates with primary care clinicians/counselors, sports medicine, and athletics staff on the identification and proper clinical care for nutrition issues related to medical concerns, such as disordered eating, diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, IBS, food allergies, and celiac disease.

Description
Organization & Administration

  • Manages fueling station operations, including budgeting, ordering, tracking, and stocking as well as tasks and responsibilities of student, temporary, and volunteer workers.
  • Tracks and documents nutrition programming, services, and outcomes for continuous improvement and to maximize impact on performance outcomes.
  • Demonstrate and maintain detailed knowledge on NCAA, Ivy League, Dartmouth College, and department rules and regulations.
