Job Summary:

The Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition of the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) and the Digestive Health Institute of Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) are seeking a pediatric Advanced Endoscopist for a faculty position located at Children's Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus in the Denver Metro area.

This position will primarily focus on complex therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopic procedures in pediatric patients, serving as a regional referral center for advanced interventional gastroenterology. The role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient procedural responsibilities, with specialized expertise in advanced endoscopic techniques including but not limited to ERCP, EUS, advanced polypectomy, stricture management, and foreign body retrieval. This position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including pediatric surgery, interventional radiology, and critical care, and may involve consultation services to other pediatric facilities within the CHCO System of Care. The role includes on-call responsibilities for urgent and emergent endoscopic interventions.

All of our faculty members bring a strong clinical focus, while many pursue research in education and clinical hospital medicine. Our faculty also serve in administrative capacities for the University, Children's Hospital, and our partner hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures in pediatric patients, including, but not limited to upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and specialized interventional procedures.

  • Provide consultation and procedural services for complex cases requiring advanced endoscopic intervention, including management of gastrointestinal bleeding, strictures, foreign body removal, and biliary/pancreatic disorders.

  • Collaborate with pediatric surgery and interventional radiology for multidisciplinary management of complex gastrointestinal conditions requiring combined procedural approaches.

  • Participate in urgent and emergent on-call coverage for advanced endoscopic procedures, including weekends and holidays as part of the gastroenterology call schedule.

  • Complete outpatient Core GI clinics

  • Learn and optimize use of the Epic electronic medical record system for procedural documentation, assist in developing quality metrics and procedural improvements.

  • Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives related to advanced endoscopic procedures, patient safety, and procedural outcomes.

  • Engage in scholarly activities including research, case presentations, and publications in advanced pediatric endoscopy in pursuit of academic promotion.

  • Provide teaching and mentorship to gastroenterology fellows, residents, and medical students in advanced endoscopic techniques and procedures.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Our state-of-the-art endoscopy suite features the latest in pediatric endoscopic technology, including high-definition imaging systems, advanced therapeutic devices, and specialized pediatric endoscopes. The advanced endoscopy program works collaboratively with our multidisciplinary programs including the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program, Intestinal Rehabilitation Program, Polyposis Clinic, and Liver Transplant Program, providing essential procedural expertise for complex cases. The program maintains strong partnerships with pediatric surgery, interventional radiology, and anesthesiology to ensure comprehensive care for our most challenging patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:

  • Medical Degree (MD/DO)

  • Completed fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at RRC-approved fellowship (or equivalent) by the time of hire date

  • Completed 1-year advanced endoscopy fellowship training by the time of hire date

  • ABP Pediatrics Board Certified

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $195,000 - $228,000

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
