JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: Yes JOB SUMMARY The Cultural Ambassador Supervisor provides face to face medical interpreting for all UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper Interdisciplinary Team members. The role coordinates Cultural and language services by ensuring the smooth flow of operations, implementing policies and procedures, and enforcing rules and regulations established by the department's leadership. Assists in the supervision of staff by distributing tasks, setting shift for a team of Cultural ambassadors, and monitoring projects to ensure that acceptable performance standards are maintained. Employs the use of technology and other resources to provide Language and Sign Language Services to different departments within the assigned facility. Works with clinical leadership in rounding on patients, communicating treatment plans and, if applicable, contacting families regarding patient care. Translation of system documents to Spanish and coordinating translation of documents for other language types. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Communication: Communicates effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and all levels of authority.
Quality: Reviews processes, identifying and recommending opportunities for improvement.
Patient Service: Actively participates in identifying areas of opportunity to improve the experience for patients and guests.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience: 4 years of experience in interpreting services required. 2 years of supervisory experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: N/A Additional Skills/Requirements Required: CMI or CHI certification within the first year of employment. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Demand Code: 6A, Customer Service Work Function/Activity: Sedentary to Light Physical Demand The job requires frequent sitting and standing, occasional walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
