This Position reports to:

US Director of Field Application Engineering

Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will serve as the Industry Application Engineer (IAE) for ABB's Electrification business within the University and Healthcare industries. You will provide technical support to consulting engineers, end users, EPCs, and design-build customers, helping to ensure ABB products and solutions are preferred or accepted in project specifications. Additionally, you will be the primary technical support for the local industry accounts. You will collaborate closely with the local sales team and the assigned customers and should possess expertise in applying Medium and Low voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, and arc flash mitigation technologies.

The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid

This role is contributing to the EL organization. Main stakeholders are IBC marketing and sales team, DS, SP, & SB.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Developing and implementing technical solutions for customer applications in the University and Healthcare industry domain.

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical support during pre-sales activities.

  • Creating and conducting product demonstrations, training sessions, and technical presentations for customers and internal teams.

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting complex technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.

  • Work closely with the Product Marketing and Agile teams to provide feedback on product performance and suggest improvements. Identify areas of product needs for development.

  • Identifying solutions that solve customer challenges and present those to the customer.

  • Staying updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and standards to ensure our solutions remain competitive and attend or present at industry events and seminars representing ABB.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Electrical Engineering (PE or master's degree is a plus).

  • Immersed in and highly skilled in electrical distribution systems and enjoy working in the University and Healthcare maintenance powerhouse electrical market.

  • Proficient in the terminologies and support needed with Central Utility Plants, Powerhouse and Maintenance facilities.

  • Ability to demonstrate your experience in working in the electrical industry with gear. You have 8+ years of experience in Power Distribution equipment including but not limited to Switchgear, Panelboards, Motor Control.

  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Passionate about building relationships with new clients and customers.

  • Ease of communicating in English at all levels of organizations from CEOs to maintenance staff.

  • Travel up to 30% in the northeast region.

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
