The Opportunity

Our client provides a unique and strong collaborative network in support of our innovative pipeline across therapeutic areas including inflammation. You will have the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives every day. The function of the Medical Science Liaison, Team Lead is fundamental to the achievement of the MSL team's goals, namely to the execution of our Clinical Development programs and to build appropriate connections to the external medical community, communicating scientific/clinical information and collecting impactful insights to enhance our strategic objectives.

In this role, you will support activities across both Medical Affairs and Clinical Development objectives for our client's portfolio of pipeline products. You will serve as both an MSL with your own territory and the MSL team leader with responsibilities for managing the overall MSL team. As an MSL, you and your team members will act as a key interface with clinical trial sites across all development programs, working closely with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations. Additionally, you will collaborate with Medical Affairs to identify and engage opinion leaders within the medical community to communicate non-promotional scientific and medical information regarding disease state and/or pipeline products across a range of therapeutic areas.

What You Will Do

  • Management of the MSL Team: Under the direction of the head of medical outreach and engagement, you will work with team members from medical affairs, clinical development, and clinical operations to build and execute the overall MSL plan. This will include Clinical Trial Support, Scientific Expertise, Opinion Leader Engagement, Cross-Functional Support, and Compliance, as detailed below. This role is responsible to perform these functions for their own territory and ensure all MSLs on the team are also performing these functions to accordance with our client's needs.
  • Clinical Trial Support: You will serve as the primary interface between our client and clinical trial sites across all development programs, working closely with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations to ensure the successful execution of high-quality clinical studies. You will advise and participate in the planning and set-up of clinical studies for your assigned region. You will collaborate and ensure alignment with local CD/Clinical Operations/CRO colleagues to ensure flawless execution of the clinical trials at the sites in your region.
  • Scientific Expertise: You will develop deep scientific expertise across several therapeutic areas, including inflammatory bowel disease. You will be the subject matter expert in these therapeutic areas in your region. You will consistently demonstrate that you are a scientifically credible leader and collaborative partner that is highly perceptive, socially intelligent and intuitive.
  • Opinion Leader Engagement: You will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators and their respective study staff within your assigned region across a range of therapeutic areas.
  • Cross-Functional Support: You will provide scientific support to Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Commercial and other cross-functional colleagues to ensure the successful execution of key corporate strategies. You will support activities, including but not limited to scientific congresses, advisory boards, speaker programs. You will share important clinical and scientific insights that you have gathered from your fieldwork to cross-functional teams.
  • Compliance: You will operate in a highly ethical manner and comply with all laws, regulations and policies.

What we expect

  • A terminal degree (Ph D, Pharm D. or M.D.) preferred or minimum of a master's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Experience managing people is required,
  • Experience managing an MSL team is preferred
  • Biotech experience is a plus
  • Fluent in English is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to present medical/scientific information in a clear and concise manner
  • Adept at developing relationships and building networks
  • Excellent organizational skills and results oriented mindset
  • Ability to influence without authority and negotiate with confidence
  • Ability to function well, both independently and within a team setting, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Relevant therapeutic area knowledge, ideally inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Experience with clinical trial design, conduct and evaluation
  • Permanent residence within region assigned
  • Able to travel up to ~40-60% of the time
  • Must successfully complete all Amplity and required client training
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record

Credentialing Requirements:

As a representative of a pharmaceutical company, you may be required to submit and maintain credentials, such as training, vaccinations, and other job-related documentation to gain access to hospitals or healthcare providers. It is the Company's expectation that you comply with the requirements outlined by the facilities on your call plans.

Additionally, certain geographic jurisdictions or hospital systems have requirements to apply for and obtain a representative license. At this time, representatives working in the District of Columbia, City of Chicago, State of Nevada, State of Oregon, or those associated with Jackson Memorial Health in Miami-Dade County Florida may be required to obtain specific licenses. This list may be subject to change, including the potential for additions or modifications. In the event of any significant changes, you will be notified accordingly.
