The Division of Student Life: University Counseling Services are seeking a temporary Senior Behavioral Health Clinician. Under direct supervision, the Senior Behavioral Health Clinician Provides psychological services to assist a broad student population in attaining their educational, interpersonal, leadership, and academic goals. Psychological services include individual assessment and counseling; clinical crisis services; case management; group counseling; psycho-educational outreach programming and consultation to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families; supervision and training to graduate students in the mental health professions. Duties to Include: * Carries a clinical case load providing counseling to individuals, couples, and groups, consulting with other professionals as necessary. * Provides diagnoses, assessment, and treatment for emotional and functional disorders through primarily brief model counseling. * Follows overall therapeutic policies and goals to ensure operational excellence. * Coordinates and evaluates the quality of counseling. * Supports students with case management, including provision of referrals to community providers as needed and appropriate. * Advises on therapeutic consultation, guidance and oversight for behavior therapy services. * Collaborates on strategies to reduce patient relapses and improve therapeutic practices. * Writes and maintains electronic mental health records. * Provides case management. * Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5 * Supervises, evaluates, and assists trainees in various content areas. * Conducts workshops and outreach services designed to provide mental health education to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families. * Provides clinical supervision to mental health profession trainees at all levels of training. * Uses knowledge of training techniques to assist trainees in the development of clinical skills. * Uses awareness of various clinical interventions to assist trainee learning. * Awareness of program design, facilitation, and evaluation skills to assist training learning. * Coaches others to improve their skills by providing constructive feedback to enhance skill development. * Instructs trainees in a number of clinical, training, and outreach competencies. * Assists trainees in development an individual competency plan to improve skill development. * Develops cooperative working relationships with UI units * Designs and develops outreach programs to meet the needs of requesting UI units. * Monitors, evaluates, and keeps informed of cutting-edge standards of practice in counseling services and keeps abreast of pertinent regulations, standards, publications, and information; provides comparison analysis to supervisors for evaluation. * May seek funding for and conduct studies and research on mental health issues; may publish or present findings in appropriate professional journals or forums. * Knowledge of APA, ACA, or NASW Ethical Standards. * Application and implementation of APA, ACA, or NASW Standards in all areas of clinical work. * Ensures compliance with standards for all trainees. * Adherence to agency standards and policies. * Performs related duties as required. Position Basics: Hourly Rate:$30 WORK SCHEDULE Hours: Varies Additional Information:Temporary position REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APAAccredited program, Master's degree in Social Work with a clinical focus form a CSWE-Accredited program, or a Master's degree in Counseling from a CACREPAccredited program. * Psychologist: Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Licensed as an LISW, LMSW or LMHC in the State of Iowa by date of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. * Psychologist: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years) or satisfactory completion of a psychology doctoral internship. Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Relevant post-degree experience (typically 1-3 years). * Extensive knowledge of evidence and theory based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual, case management, and group. * Extensive ability to assess, manage, and ensure high quality mental health counseling, trauma, and crisis management. * Extensive proficiency in planning and delivering psycho-educational outreach programs and consultation services. * Working knowledge of providing training and supervision to trainees * Expert proficiency in the application of communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. * Extensive proficiency in collaborating and interacting with individuals and groups while recognizing and respecting the contributions of others. * Working proficiency with office and tele-mental health support tools and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets, electronic health records); preferably Microsoft Office, Titanium, and Zoom. |
