Job Summary	Job Summary Applies expert and specialized knowledge to contribute to the development of new techniques and concepts related to the design, development, testing, manufacturing repair and certification of aircraft structures, component parts and related component systems and subsystems for operational aircraft that are consistent with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Recognized as the resident expert in the engineering discipline within the Company. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Develops design and analytical solutions to complex or unusual engineering technical problems or assignments requiring considerable ingenuity and innovation that may also require substantial modification to current engineering protocols in the analysis, design and/or repair development of aircraft structures, powerplant component parts, mechanical and electrical systems/structures and subsystems for commercial, military, executive, general aviation, or special purpose applications on operational aircraft. Analyzes and interprets engineering proposals and documentation such as drawings, material and product specifications, structural repair manuals (SRMs), component maintenance manuals (CMMs) and illustrated parts lists (IPLs/IPCs) to develop design and/or repair schemes approaches. Analyzes research data to determine feasibility of product proposal. Works with management to clarify or resolve problems. Applies expert engineering knowledge in the design and development and/or repairs of structural, power plant and other operational and structural components that are used in operating aircraft; this includes producing or assisting in the production of computed aided drawings and engineering reports. Develops design and/or repair data packages and obtains FAA approvals through internal and external FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs); troubleshoot failure modes, communicate and interact with customer engineering groups and/or internal personnel for design, development and/or cost effective repair schemes and approvals. Designs and develops analytical programs concerned with ground or flight testing, or development of acoustic, thermodynamic, or propulsion systems; conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products. Tests models, prototypes, subassemblies, or production items to study and evaluate operational characteristics and effects of stress imposed during actual or simulated operational conditions. Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
Minimum Qualifications	Education Requirements Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. Engineering Preferred Graduate Degree. Engineering Preferred Other. Professional Engineer Certification If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement. Experience Requirements 10 year(s) Related experience and/or training. Skills and Competencies Must be able to fluently read and write the English language, perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions and other like documents. Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Communicates effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Very strong communication skills, tailoring to technical and nontechnical audiences. Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups.
Skills and Work Requirements
Physical Requirements	Physical Requirements Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Work Environment	Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Supervision	Supervision Works under general direction. Guidance as to results expected and complex problems. Exercises latitude in determining activities and approaches within moderate to wide parameters.
