FOX Weather is looking for a Manager to lead our Content Core team in New York City. The FOX Weather Content Core is on the front lines of the weather news industry and critical to driving the overall content strategy of FOX Weather that powers our live programming, digital articles & videos on foxweather.com and the FOX Weather app and content across all social media platforms. You are committed to excellent storytelling in the weather news beat 24/7. You are an expert in digital analytics, tracking performance across all major KPIs to guide decision making. You have a team-first mentality and dedicated passion for news to be successful in this position at FOX Weather.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute editorial direction in collaboration with FOX Weather leadership to direct news coverage and content-driven initiatives for FOX Weather

  • Manage day to day content production operations, from idea to execution so the best content is always available for use on-air and all platforms

  • Establish new processes to discover content ideas, advance stories and chase news to establish FOX Weather as the #1 source for weather news on the national scale

  • Collaborate closely with other teams within FOX Weather to contribute to shared content and co-branded initiatives

  • Develop coverage plans for Content Core to serve FOX Weather as a 24/7 news machine of breaking and compelling content

  • Ensure productivity and digital traffic goals on foxweather.com are met and continue on a growth trajectory by constant tracking of data to help guide decisions

  • Identify opportunities within the team to streamline workflows and deliver a superior product for the audience

  • Manage Producers and schedules on the team

  • Verify accuracy for news and meteorological information cleared and produced by Content Core

  • Edit, assign and produce content as needed

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study preferred

  • At least 2 years of prior management experience in the news industry

  • At least 6 years of experience in journalism, either digital outlets, traditional linear newsrooms or on an assignment desk

  • Excellent news judgement, strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude

  • Extensive knowledge of news cycle

  • Social media savviness and passion for experimentation in new media industry

  • Passion for weather news and FOX Weather

  • Ability to work under deadline and pressure of a fast-paced newsroom

  • Ability to utilize various content management, newsgathering, social media and collaboration tools such as Airtable, Jira, Wordpress, WSI graphics among others

  • Willingness to work weekends, nights or early mornings when needed

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $92,000.00-126,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
