Digital Media Communications Assistant

***This position requires an active Secret clearance.***

The Digital Media Communications Assistant will in the execution of the Bureau's digital diplomacy initiatives. The individual would also assist in the further development and refinement of the existing social media strategy, as designated by the supervising official. The individual will assist the Bureau to grow its current operations while still maintaining the development of the consistent product expected by posts. This position would report directly to the Digital Media Coordinator who exercises general control over the work of the position by establishing overall objectives for the assignment in coordination with the office Directors.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Digital Media Program Assistant: 110-120K

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Digital Media Communications Assistant Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists in the creation and distribution of social media content on a range of Bureau policy priorities.
  • Supports the development of digital diplomacy campaigns for Bureau staff, EUR Missions, and partnering offices.
  • Develops visual and audio content in support of messaging efforts.
  • Aids in the collection and management of relevant social media metrics and assists in designing measures of campaign effectiveness.
  • Conducts research on new digital utilities and platforms for Bureau engagements
  • Assist in digital onboarding and training efforts.
  • Consults on opportunities for developing and reigning the existing Bureau digital engagement strategy.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Digital Media Communications Assistant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, or related field OR 1 to 3 years of experience using and managing social media.
  • Requires SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Effective written, communication, presentation, and computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of Google sheets, docs, and other applicable software.
  • Able to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize and run multiple social media channels.
  • Working knowledge of basic systems administration such as permissions, content publishing, and similar functions.
  • Working knowledge of marketing, photography, and video editing on social media platforms.
  • Able to set priorities and work in a group environment or independently.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
