Position Overview

Seeking a highly motivated Information System Security Officer (ISSO)to provide direct cybersecurity support to a federal bureau within the Department of the Treasury. The ISSO will play a critical role in safeguarding Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) and Zero Trust (ZT) systems that enable the bureau's mission. This role requires strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity requirements, risk management practices, and hands-on experience managing system security compliance in line with FISMA, NIST, and Treasury directives.

Key Responsibilities

The ISSO will:

  • Draft, update, and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation for assigned ICAM and Zero Trust systems.
  • Manage and track Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) through closure for assigned systems.
  • Support internal and external security assessments and audits as required.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on technical and procedural security controls applicable to ICAM and ZT systems.
  • Review and analyze vulnerability scan reports; track identified vulnerabilities through remediation and closure.
  • Coordinate and manage Contingency Planning (CP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing for assigned systems.
  • Collaborate with application and system owners to complete Security Impact Analyses (SIA) for system changes or updates.
  • Provide ongoing compliance monitoring and ensure alignment with OMB, NIST, and Treasury-specific security policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3-5+ years of experience as an ISSO, Security Analyst, or similar federal cybersecurity role.
  • Knowledge of FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-37 (RMF), NIST SP 800-63-3 (Digital Identity), and OMB Zero Trust directives.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and maintaining ATO documentation and managing POA&Ms.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management, SIAs, and contingency planning.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to brief federal stakeholders and support audits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Public Trust or higher
  • Relevant cybersecurity certification(s): CISSP, CISM, CAP, Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting Treasury bureaus (IRS, BEP, TIGTA, etc.) or other federal financial sector organizations.
  • Familiarity with ICAM solutions (SailPoint, RadiantOne, Entra ID, etc.) or PAM solutions (CyberArk).
