Job Overview
The Fire Alarm System Mechanic maintains and repairs fire alarm wiring and equipment, ensuring work is in accordance with relevant codes. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Inspects, maintains, repairs, replaces, and modifies Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) fire alarm control panels, annunciator equipment, initiating devices, notification appliances, and digital alarm transmitters/ receivers.
- Inspects maintains, repairs, replaces, and modifies RPIE environmental, warning, mass notification, intrusion, and klaxon alarm systems.
- Provides notification of the inspection/test schedule to the government representative.
- Allows 2 business days to coordinate with the CE fire department and the facility manager prior to conducting tests.
- Inspects, tests, operates, and maintains carbon monoxide detection systems, environmental detection alarms, frequency modulated (FM) antennas, non-privatized lift station controls, and base station and transceivers connected to these alarms in accordance with manufacture's recommendations and/or PMTLs (whichever is more stringent) and local procedures.
- Oversees alarm functions of the Sustainment Management System (SMS) BUILDER data to ensure accuracy and integrity. This requirement does not include non-RPIE security alarms, security cameras, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Maintain current State of Florida licensure and shall have not less than the fire alarm system manufacturer's minimum recommended training, qualifications, and certifications for each type of system.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
- Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
Preferred:
- Work experience supporting a military base or civilian installation.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
- Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm, diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, dust odors, and elevated noise levels.
- Tasks may be performed in uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted surfaces/floors, cement structures and surfaces.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to use tools, equipment, chemicals, etc. to perform essential functions of the job.
- Ability to use standard office equipment /tools as may be required for the position (computer, phone, copy machine, hand-held radio, etc.)
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and follow safe lifting procedures.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
- May be required to enter confined spaces.
