The University of Iowa College of Nursing invites applications for aVisiting Professorin the Graduate Practice Programs. We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and mission-driven individual who is passionate about advancing the quality of advanced practice nursing education.

In this role, the Visiting Professor will work closely with theAssociate Dean for Graduate Practice Programs (ADGPP)and program faculty to support the scholarly work of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students and help shape the future direction and academic rigor of the program.

Key responsibilities include:





  • Collaborating with faculty, the ADGPP, and college leadership to design and implement simulation-based learning experiences that prepare students for advanced practice roles.
  • Supporting curriculum development and student learning aligned with program goals.
  • Teaching assignments based on the needs of the graduate practice programs.




The Visiting Professor will report directly to theAssociate Dean for Graduate Practice Programs.

Education Requirement:


  • Earned doctorate in nursing (Research or Practice Doctorate)


Required Qualifications:


  • Licensed Registered Nurse, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, and eligible for and maintain licensure in the State of Iowa
  • National nurse practitioner certification
  • Knowledge of national norms and processes related to DNP project standards and rigor
  • Experience with guiding students through DNP projects
  • Experience mentoring faculty
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and application of simulation in graduate nursing education
  • Documented record of national leadership in nursing
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity through publications and national presentations
  • Prior teaching experience in a DNP Program at a R1 institution
  • Acknowledged record of service and teaching success


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Professional leadership in nursing education
  • Desired education from an R1 institution; a liberal arts college or a teaching intensive institution; or public, non-profit private institution.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field from an accredited school of nursing with national certification in specialty area (when applicable).
