About the role:

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and results-oriented Electrical Engineering Technician II to join our Hardware R&D Group. This candidate will support and be part of close-knit hardware R&D engineering teams developing electronics for new instrument platforms for 10x while interfacing with mechanical, optical and software engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working on electrical, optical, mechanical, and fluidic components of instruments. The candidate will have experience with hands-on work in the lab, testing, and documenting prototype designs. There are also opportunities for developing fixtures for testing new designs.

This candidate will be responsible for performing rework on printed circuit assemblies and assembling electrical cables for interfacing prototype boards. Responsibilities also include monitoring calibration status of test instruments and maintaining inventory and cleanliness of the engineering and instrumentation labs. This includes tools, parts and components that cover mechanical, electrical, optical and fluidic disciplines.

What you will be doing:



  • Running mechanical, electrical, optical, and fluidic tests on prototypes, and documenting results clearly.
  • Provide technical tasks associated with prototype bring up and instrument configuration.
  • Managing lab inventory of tools and parts.
  • Managing lab cleanliness.
  • Serving as the responsible individual for equipment and responding to issues with prototype systems and test equipment in the laboratory (troubleshooting, repairing, and requalifying).
  • Maintaining and calibrating prototype instruments and test rigs.
  • Assembling components, subsystems, and systems for testing.
  • Developing fixtures and instrumentation for assembly and testing.


To be successful, you will need:



  • Associate degree in engineering technology or equivalent military technical training and 4 years of related experience, or extensive experience that is equivalent.
  • Skill in soldering, printed circuit board rework, and electrical cable assembly
  • Experience with test instruments including oscilloscopes, data loggers, digital multi-meters, and current probes.
  • Extensive troubleshooting experience diagnosing and correcting problems with electro-mechanical instruments or equipment.
  • Strong background in the understanding of electrical circuits and power distribution subsystems.
  • Working knowledge of a scripting test language


Nice to have skills & background:



  • Experience with EMC and environmental testing
  • Experience working on analytical instruments that integrate electronics, optics, and microfluidics.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, and/or C
  • Hands-on experience with breadboard builds and optical alignment.
  • Experience in reliability or life testing.
  • Machine shop experience


Below is the base pay range for this full-time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one's skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company's total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x's equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
