We are currently looking for a Sanitation and General Lab Technician to join our growing team!

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for disposal of laboratory waste generated at the facility, as well as cleaning and maintenance of the buildings break room, restrooms, and other facilities as needed. Performs general laboratory tasks such as preparing cleaning solutions, cleaning laboratory equipment to include glassware, metal instruments, sinks, tables, and test panels. Routine maintenance, restocking of laboratory supplies, and other general duties as required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dispose of laboratory waste and the sanitization of instrumentation and equipment
  • Clean break room, restrooms, and high traffic areas as needed
  • Mix water, detergents and/or acids in container to prepare cleaning solution according to specifications
  • Wash, rinse, dry, and sterilize glassware and instruments
  • Scrub walls, floors, shelves, tables, and sinks
  • Fill tubes and bottles with specified solutions and apply identification labels
  • Deliver supplies and laboratory specimens to designated work areas
  • Maintain inventory reports and logs
  • Prepare and maintain bacteriological media and chemical solutions, utilizing proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal of solutions, including autoclaved and hazardous waste
  • Assisting with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team
  • Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area
  • Responsible for the completion of required training

SUPERVISION

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • or one to three months related experience and/or training;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens
  • Noise level varies from quiet to loud
  • Temperature varies from hot to cold
  • Interactive and fast-paced team oriented tasks
  • Overnight Travel is required at the discretion of management
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
