Description
Acara Solutions is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our client's team in Gilbert, AZ as a contractor expert. This role focuses on designing and developing complex electronic hardware and circuit card assemblies (CCAs) for aerospace and space applications. The position requires deep technical expertise, leadership in design reviews, and collaboration across teams to deliver production-ready, space-qualified hardware.
Location: Gilbert, AZ | Shift: 1st (9/80 schedule) | Pay: $130-$160/hour | Duration: 6 months (Temp)
Key duties include designing electronic hardware, overseeing design documentation, and ensuring the manufacturability and reliability of electrical circuit cards that meet the stringent requirements of space environments. The engineer conducts detailed electrical analyses, selects appropriate components and materials, and ensures designs comply with industry standards such as Military, FAA, NASA, and other space-related specifications.
Early in projects, the engineer works closely with customers to understand requirements, propose innovative circuit solutions tailored for space missions, and assist in preparing winning technical proposals. They regularly communicate with manufacturing, test, and reliability teams to coordinate design status and ensure compatibility, especially considering the unique challenges of space hardware such as radiation tolerance and extreme temperature variations.
A crucial part of the role is attending and leading design reviews, where the engineer presents design concepts, progress, and analysis results to stakeholders, solicits feedback, addresses concerns, and drives consensus on design decisions. The engineer also reviews designs created by other engineers to ensure quality, compliance with standards, and best practices, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced electronic control hardware and CCAs for space environments.
  • Perform detailed electrical analyses, including signal integrity, bandwidth, parts stress/derating, and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • Select components and materials that meet military, FAA, NASA, and space-specific standards.
  • Prepare accurate design documentation, test reports, and technical proposals.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, test, and reliability teams to ensure design compatibility and manufacturability.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, presenting concepts, trade studies, and analysis results to stakeholders.
  • Review and provide feedback on other engineers' designs for compliance, quality, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and validate designs through rigorous test programs for space conditions.
  • Represent the client professionally in technical discussions with customers and partners.
