Position Description:

Assist in fabricating Heads for Wabash Customers at the direction of a Coordinator or Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:




  • Before beginning work, inspect equipment to assure that it is in safe operating condition and that any required preventative maintenance checks have been completed.


  • Performs routine maintenance as required.


  • Reads and interprets blueprints and work orders to ensure that specifications and tolerances are met.


  • Obtains material, parts, and tools as needed to complete the job.


  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates equipment in a safe, efficient and accurate manner to produce required parts.


  • Works to reduce scrap and improve quality.


  • Checks work to make sure it meets specifications and tolerances.


  • May include but not limited to washing, painting and spraying in paint booth.


  • Accurately completes all required paperwork, including recording labor data.


  • Comply with OSHA Standards.


  • May be assigned to other tasks as needed to meet workload demands.


  • Keep the Supervisor advised of any quality problems, concerns, delays, etc.


  • Advise the Supervisor of any maintenance work. Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.


  • Suggest methods improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce cost and/or improve quality.


  • Wear all required PPE such as shoes, gloves, sleeves, safety glasses, face shields, respirators, hearing protection, heat-shielding hoods, jackets, fall protection, etc.


  • Able to work in adverse climate conditions (hot, cold, dark, loud, etc.).


  • Able to work in small spaces, kneeling or bending for extended periods.


  • Demonstrate and embrace all the Wabash Values and Leadership Principles in daily activities.

Qualifications:



  • High school degree or G.E.D. equivalent is required Basic reading/writing and verbal skills.
  • General computer skills (Excel and Word)
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to read and use tape measure, calipers, and gauging equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Able to exercise independent judgment when performing responsibilities.
  • Perform work at a quality level that meets or exceeds the Wabash and ISO standards.
  • Ensure that there is a Winning Together mentality to eliminate the "shift versus shift" mentality.
  • Shares information with others to help them perform their responsibilities safely and efficiently.
  • Copes successfully with unexpected events throughout the day
  • Able to work independently, as well as collectively, with other Techs, operators, maintenance, and engineers.
  • Resolves conflicting priorities and accomplishes tasks on time.
  • High standards for minimal unplanned absences (critical position to daily operational success)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.


Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

The work requires climbing of over six (6) feet in height using a ladder or scaffolding and to bend and stoop to reach the underside of the tanks. Physical requirements include bending, stooping, and climbing for approximately 30% of the shift and standing for approximately 70% of the shift. Working conditions may consist of loud noise, welding, paint fumes, and grinding dust.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites such as the noise level in the work environment can be very loud with high temperatures at times.

Physical Demands:
