Head of US Marine Reinsurance

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute the US marine reinsurance strategy aligned with global objectives.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting strategies to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
• Underwriting & Portfolio Management:
  • Oversee underwriting of marine reinsurance treaties and facultative placements including Hull & Machinery (H&M), Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Cargo, and Liability.
  • Ensure disciplined underwriting practices and adherence to risk appetite.
• Business Development:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with brokers, cedents, and industry partners.
  • Identify new business opportunities and lead negotiations for key accounts.
• Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of underwriters and analysts.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Operational Oversight:
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, finance, and legal teams to ensure accurate pricing, reserving, and compliance.
  • Monitor performance metrics and report to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience in marine insurance and reinsurance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Deep understanding of US marine markets and global reinsurance dynamics.
• Proven track record in underwriting, portfolio management, and strategic leadership.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, ACII) preferred.
