Job Overview:

Under the direction of the manager, the Inventory Specialist II completes tasks and assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Remains positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks. Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assignments. Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • Six months to one-year Operating Room Materials Management experience is required in healthcare.
  • Microsoft Office Suite desired,

Preferred:

  • College Graduate preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them. Follows sound employee retention techniques, effective selection and interviewing, recognition, fair and timely discipline, and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Interacts constructively, tactfully, and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce.
  • Effectively allocates and schedules resources. Able to project and appropriately staff the unit/department to effectively function to demand.
  • Utilizes resources, both labor and non-labor, to maximize efficiency and quality. Adheres to budgetary guidelines and targets-proactively manages budget variances and causes.
  • Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employees, physicians, patients, visitors, and guests. Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility. Follows through on all customer requests and inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages operating room supply chain activities of designated Operating Room materials management areas within Surgical Services, including material flow of products, equipment, and physician special request items for Orthopedics, Urology, Bariatric, Laparoscopic, Vascular, ENT, Dental, Neurology and Cardiac services. Manages improving efficiencies including acquisition, receiving, storage and accounting of supplies.
  • Responsible for daily requisitioning and replacement of all "special" supplies in the operating room.
  • Replenishes all storage areas, including two storage rooms, 7 operating rooms and multiple carts.
  • Manages bill only for the processing and production of requisitions and reports monthly.
  • Works with reimbursement to identify billing invoices needed for revenue integrity.
  • Meets with OR Coordinators and Facility Operations Manager to review supplies for all upcoming cases to include any special needs for surgeons, and reviews any product issues, such as, backorders, substitutions, allocations, and conversions. Research special item requests.
  • Monitors expiring product, and reimbursement for short, dated items.
  • Tracks and monitors all recalls for surgical services. Works with risk management to identify recalled items by department.
  • Responsible for management of all biologic and synthetic implant tissue supply, and maintenance of tissue tracking system.
  • Additional assistance to surrounding departments.
  • Acts as a liaison between materials management and the surgical unit.
  • Generates reports of spend, separated by category.
  • Reconciles spend vs volume for the Operating Room.
  • Perform other jobs as assigned.
