RN Unit Coordinator - Surgical Unit
Location: Sentara Obici Hospital - Suffolk, VA

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Coordinator to join our Surgical Unit. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced nurse with strong clinical knowledge, organizational skills, and a passion for supporting both patients and staff in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Position Overview:
The RN Unit Coordinator provides clinical and administrative leadership for the Surgical Unit. This role ensures safe, high-quality patient care, fosters effective teamwork, and serves as a resource for staff, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operations and patient flow within the Surgical Unit

  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient care

  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices

  • Support staff development through coaching, training, and performance feedback

  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Current, valid RN license in the state of Virginia

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of recent acute care nursing experience, with surgical unit experience strongly preferred

  • Prior leadership, charge nurse, or coordinator experience is a plus

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
