The Chief Engineer oversees the operation, repair, and maintenance of all buildings, equipment, and systems on the property. Job Duties:
- Staff Management
- Lead and supervise daily operations, ensuring adequate staffing, service quality, and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and compliance with hotel policies.
- Monitor staff appearance, conduct, and work area standards to maintain a professional environment.
- Promote teamwork, open communication, and timely resolution of guest and staff concerns.
- Training
- Implement and facilitate new hire orientation and ongoing departmental training.
- Ensure all associates are trained on safety, emergency, and hotel operating procedures.
- Monitor and update training programs to maintain compliance with brand and hotel standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, development, and service excellence.
- Administrative
- Manage departmental budgets, payroll, and expenses in line with financial goals.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and meetings to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to support smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Prepare reports, maintain logs, and communicate key updates to management.
- Maintenance
- Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs for all hotel systems and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and capital projects to optimize cost and quality.
- Maintain technical proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and energy systems.
*Among other responsibilities assigned. Job Requirements: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Must have 5 years maintenance experience and 3 years supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a clean driving record.
