Scope of Position:
The Social Services Case Worker is responsible to the Oregon Service Extension Field Representative for the various social service programs rendered from the Klamath Falls Service Center.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of clients, logs, case files, record keeping.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Prepare required statistical reports as required.
- Adhere to Klamath/Lake Counties Food Bank Protocols.
- Recruit and direct volunteers & their activities.
- Participate in seasonal fund-raising efforts.
- Participate in Emergency Disaster Response Activities as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and tidy workplace, waiting areas, food bank area and outside parking lot.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interview clients; assess needs and ability to meet those needs.
- Answer phones and respond to emails in timely manner.
- Be knowledgeable about what other resources and social services are available in the County.
- Refer clients to other available resources.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of clients, logs, case files, and accurate record keeping.
- Prepare required statistical reports as required.
- Adhere to Klamath/Lake Counties Food Bank Protocols.
- Recruit and direct volunteers & their activities.
- Participate in seasonal fund-raising efforts.
- Participate in Emergency Disaster Response Activities as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Social Services:
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction the Social Services Case Worker will provide oversight of all social services programs to the communities of Klamath County.
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction will help assess community needs and provide hands-on case management and assistance to the impoverished and homeless population.
- Maintain social service client records according to Salvation Army policy and adhere to file retention policies.
- Support the Service Extension Coordinator's prepare and submit monthly statistical reports pertaining to financial assistance/gift-in kind, number of persons assisted/services rendered, and number of volunteer/hours provided.
- Support the Service Extension Coordinator in participation in other fund raising and community awareness programs and activities to secure donations for distribution to clients participating in our programs, as needed.
Summer Camp:
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction help monitor camp application documents as they are presented to Service Extension.
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction disseminate materials to camp coordinator volunteers by the most appropriate (fax, email, US Mail) with deadlines for paperwork submission.
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction check all applications for completeness.
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction enter each camper's info in the Camp Management Database.
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction Maintain contact throughout the year with the various families sending children to Summer Camp.
Back to School Backpack Project:
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction help in the back-to-school event from planning to distribution.
Christmas Kettles:
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction support on the planning, directing, and overseeing the Christmas Kettle Fundraising season.
Working Conditions:
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction may work outside in various weather conditions incidental to Klamath Falls.
- Under the Service Extension Coordinator's direction drive a motor vehicle at low light and in all types of weather conditions encountered in work locale.
- Interacts with the public and clients who may struggle with aggressive behaviors.
- Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
- Fingering- picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
