Overview
Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Quality Assurance/Control Engineer to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. As a trusted partner to government agencies and national laboratories, Omega Technical Services supports some of the nation's most complex and high-impact programs. Responsibilities
Define the scope of technical and quality engineering programs and develop effective, quality solutions to
challenges that involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry
requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, cost-effective, and timely results. Give quality
guidance to less senior professionals on related tasks.
- Apply technical and quality engineering experience in the field of specialization to resolve complex
problems. Incorporate advanced technical and quality engineering practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and complex coordination or oversight requirements into problem-solving and program planning. Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area of technical and quality engineering specialization. - Provide direction and position responsibility, both inside and outside department lines, on programs
seeking new approaches to problems and new applications of existing engineering and quality assurance principles; evaluate the results of programs through surveys, monitoring, assessments, and reviews; prepare reports and recommendations based on these evaluations, and identify and recommend improvements where established technology, methodology, and procedures are inadequate for the solution. Keep informed of the advancement of technology and requirements as applied within one's area of specialization and expertise. - Develop QA programs and procedures and ensure compliance and effective execution of technical and
quality assurance requirements within the assigned facility or program area. Be accountable for compliance with the approved schedules and ensure that personnel under one's technical guidance are appropriately trained and effectively utilized. - Prepare plans, including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving technical and quality
engineering tasks identified by management. Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of the budget, and review the quality of work completed to ensure that technical and quality requirements are met. Serve on a Facility Review Board, providing QA expertise in support of facility start-up and/or operation. Support facility/project needs within the assigned area by conducting procurement, procedure, and work package reviews. - Communicate objectives and results to customers, colleagues, and management. Prepare reports,
professional papers, and articles for internal publication; Occasionally prepare reports for external publication. Communicate with DOE-SR personnel regarding the QA Program and the status of corrective actions. Enhance expertise in the field through leadership in local technical societies. May also participate in national technical societies, advanced studies, or national consensus standards committees. - Demonstrate commitment to TQ concepts by active participation and successful implementation of Div./
Dept. TQ initiatives. - Serve as a QA expert in evaluating the QA Programs of major program participants, including
subcontractors and suppliers, to recommend corrective actions, redirect efforts, and provide judgment regarding a project or facility's potential for success. Present findings to program or facility management and Site QA. - Perform other duties as assigned by management. Specific responsibilities: Perform Supplier Surveillance
Oversight activities utilizing a checklist to determine effective and efficient fabrication are being performed. Review supplier submittals, design output documents, and procurement requests.
Qualifications
- PH.D. degree in Engineering/Science with 5 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or
Engineering experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction, or Industrial Manufacturing - MS degree in Engineering/Science with 8 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering
experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction, or Industrial Manufacturing - BS degree in Engineering/Science with 10 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering
experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction, or Industrial Manufacturing - Non-technical degree with 13 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience
in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction, or Industrial Manufacturing - At least 16 years of multi-disciplined professional Quality Assurance or engineering-related experience
with increasing levels of responsibility in operations, maintenance, construction, or manufacturing environment, in which 10 years must have been in a senior position. - Previous Mechanical and Welding Inspection and/or Fabrication experience.
- Working knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) Codes
- Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME) B31.3 welding code.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates who have possessed a previous DOE clearance are preferred.
- Current or prior certification as a lead auditor is preferred
- Surveillance experience
- Working knowledge of ASNT NDE Methods
- Working knowledge of pressure testing

Pay Range
USD $50,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.
