Mission Contribution: Ensure the efficient and accurate movement of donations to and from internal and external partners, maximizing the value of each donation to support the mission of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys.

Summary: Reporting to the Director Operations, the Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing all logistics operations, ensuring the timely and efficient flow of products and supplies between internal teams and external partners. This position supervises Collections Truck Drivers.

Essential Functions:


  1. Coordinate with internal teams (Warehouse and/or Operation Supervisors) to ensure the timely delivery, pick-up, and movement of supplies, donations, and products to and from customers.
  2. Plan and optimize truck routes to ensure the efficient movement of donations while controlling costs.
  3. Oversee the use, maintenance, and repair of trucks and department equipment, including coordinating with external vendors, ensuring preventive actions are taken, and conducting monthly inspections to maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
  4. Train and certify team members on safe operation of trucks and forklifts, ensuring compliance with all relevant traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety protocols.
  5. Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and preventive actions, and report any incidents or accidents to the Safety Specialist and Director of Operations.
  6. Lead driver and safety training sessions monthly, reinforcing safe equipment operation and driving habits to ensure zero reportable accidents.
  7. Serve as backup to truck drivers and/or assist with warehouse operations as needed, ensuring smooth daily logistics and transportation functions.
  8. Support team members' professional development by ensuring required certifications and timely completion of training.
  9. Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, and assist with onboarding: Evaluate candidates, select the best fit for the team, support a seamless transition for new hires, and actively engage in recruitment opportunities to attract and retain top talent.
  10. Communicate professionally with internal and external customers to ensure high-quality service and responsiveness to needs.
  11. Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment by motivating and coaching team members, encouraging collaboration, and driving performance toward departmental goals.
  12. Plan and prepare work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient operations.
  13. Conduct performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and setting goals for improvement and development.
  14. Document and implement coaching/corrective actions: Identify performance issues, develop and execute improvement plans, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and foster ongoing professional development to enhance overall team effectiveness.
  15. Attend training sessions, meetings, and company-related events as required.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
  17. Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in digital literacy, including basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, and company-specific software tools.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to effectively read, write, and create reports and professional business correspondence.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from supervisors, team members, and customers.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, team members, and internal and external customers.
  • Positive and friendly attitude, contributing to a collaborative work environment and enhancing team morale.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • Certified Forklift Operator - Required certification to safely operate forklifts and train other team members in forklift use.
  • Prior experience in logistics or transportation management, including route planning, vehicle maintenance, and overseeing product movement, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with using inventory management software or systems to track product movement and manage warehouse operations, is preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain first aid and CPR certification

Special Requirements:


  • Personal vehicle usage is required for this position, including a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and the ability to provide proof of insurance for driving on company business.
  • An acceptable motor vehicle record, based on Goodwill guidelines, is required for driving a personal or company vehicle.
  • Must provide a cell phone for specified work responsibilities, including the use of a phone-based application for authentication.
  • Must successfully complete a state background investigation and drug screen.

  • Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to forty (40) pounds regularly without support. For weight over forty (40) pounds, request additional team member assistance as needed.

Work Environment:


  • Warehouse and transportation environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently to multiple location and overnight as needed.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational demands.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to heat, cold, and adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.
