Purpose of the Job

The Financial Education Officer II, promotes financial literacy and wellness within the credit union and broader community. This role is responsible for delivering and helping to develop comprehensive financial wellness education programs, resources and initiatives that empower the community and business partner employees served by the credit union to make informed financial decisions and achieve sustainable financial goals. In addition, this role will oversee the development and execution of community engagement events. This includes planning, coordinating, and supporting events that strengthen relationships with community partners and promote financial wellness initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Supports Truliant Foundation, community outreach, and financial wellness strategies that strengthen Truliant's visibility, brand, and social impact.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to integrate financial education into the credit union's products, services, and member experience.
  • Represents the credit union at community events, fairs and professional networking groups to promote financial literacy initiatives and resources.
  • Acts as financial literacy content, tools and material subject matter expert; responsible for learning, teaching and adapting to curriculum for organizational instruction and guided support.
  • Oversees logistics, scheduling, marketing materials, outside vendors and all aspects of on-site execution of workshop and webinar facilitation.
  • Analyzes data and participant survey feedback to identify areas for improvement, enhance learning strategies and customize approach to best align with participant needs.
  • Independently manages financial education class requests, updates schedule and responds in a timely manner to all communications; internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates the ability to motivate, inspire and meaningfully connect with program participants to influence financial management behaviors and choices that lead to more financially stable and resilient outcomes individuals and families.
  • Promotes awareness of personalized guidance and services offered by local branches through financial education onsite and remote seminars.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in carrying out responsibilities with minimal supervision; resulting in increased membership and engagement with credit union services.
  • Identifies training needs and topics of interest for community and business partner employees through a variety of channels including survey feedback and class observations. Researches trends and incorporates enhancements or collaborates with training vendor to address needs.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of business partner information in department database and prepares reporting on BP activities, tasks, and projects.
  • Oversees development and execution of community, business partner sponsored event and community service protocols including pre-event staffing calls and/or meetings, event preparation, attendance, onsite engagement, event follow up and recommendations to enhance engagement activities.
  • Recommends appropriate staff to invite and coordinates attendance at community and business partner engagement events and financial education workshops.
  • Manages and distributes materials necessary to support Truliant presence at community and business partners events; Coordinates data collection and presentation as part of the evaluation process including event surveys, financial education surveys, and sponsorship feedback.
  • Works collaboratively with internal employees within various departments to provide resources for community and business partner engagement events where Truliant is a sponsor and/or an exhibitor. Consults and acts as a liaison with staff to create, develop and coordinate community and business partner efforts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of educational training techniques
  • Must have persuasive and compelling presentation and facilitation skills
  • Must be detail oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must have proven ability to coordinate multiple events and meetings simultaneously
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written with the capacity to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Must have the ability to work with people at different job levels ranging from Senior managers to front line employees
  • Must have excellent computer skills, with basic knowledge of the MS Office suite of products
  • Must have ability to understand all business processes within the Credit Union
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to complete all assignments using independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision
  • Must have proven track record of developing and delivering effective financial literacy programs, workshops, and educational resources for diverse audiences.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of personal finance topics, including budgeting, credit management, debt reduction, homeownership, retirement planning, and investment strategies.
  • Must have familiarity with financial regulations, consumer protection laws, and best practices in financial education.
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing for long periods of time, walking long distances, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds
  • Occasional to Frequent travel required, outside normal business hours as needed

Education and Background

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, financial education, financial literacy or related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial education, consumer finance or related roles within the financial service industry, non-profit sector or educational institutions
  • Previous experience in financial services/business development related field preferred
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in financial planning, personal finance or adult education strongly preferred
  • Experience in curriculum design, instructional methods and program evaluation preferred
  • Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation required
