As a Supervisor, Automation & Control Engineering supporting the MTO ASPEX Team in Fort Worth, TX, a typical day will include: Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
Oversee automation technician team and manages activities by priority level to minimize downtime and interruptions. Oversee automation-related projects, including upgrades, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement supporting a 24/7 production operation. Facilitate meetings to keep track of established timelines and due dates for projects. Collect and maintain drawings, manuals, and other documentation of equipment and machinery. Use technical knowledge to provide strategic support to various departments. Keep record and file essential maintenance documentation. Keep track of KPI's to ensure goals are being achieved. Generate and execute required change control documentation per applicable SOP's. Oversee designing, developing, implementing, operating, and maintaining electromechanical systems. Troubleshoot, test, and assemble electromechanical assemblies; assist in reworking, repairing, and modifying non-conforming equipment. Install, calibrate, test, repair, and upgrade components of devices, control equipment, operation panels, and facility infrastructure; assist engineers with developing technical solutions for device operation and performance. Inspect and maintain equipment using tools and diagnostic software; use computer-aided-design software to model proposed systems. Ensure efficient task completion and adherence to processes; make day-to-day decisions affecting team members. Foster a culture of excellence by leading performance management, driving talent development, ensuring positive employee relations, and enhancing employee engagement and recognition. Manage task assignments, workflow, and ensure compliance with processes and standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
Drive team culture that is focused on continuous improvement, positive morale and highest level of customer service and professionalism in the workplace. Consistently demonstrate leadership behaviors by focusing on how we accomplish task, in addition to what results we accomplish. Participate in the On-call rotation. Work with Engineering Manager and Production to set performance goals and develop measurable objectives for team members. Provide formal and informal support and coaching to direct reports as needed to improve performance or generate opportunities for the growth and development of employees.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+16yrs; M.S.+0 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English 2 Years of Relevant Experience 1 Years of Demonstrated Leadership Location: Onsite Travel: No travel Relocation: No Sponsorship Assistance: No
Preferred Experience:
Relevant technical schooling or equivalent experience in Automation and Controls including, but not limited to PLCs, SCADA, iBatch, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and GE. Technical and practical knowledge of machinery/equipment. Able to read and understand drawings/schematics. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Highly developed organizational skills. Must be detail oriented. High proficiency with computers; Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) Able to work in an extremely fast paced environment. Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
