Torch Technologies is seeking a Senior Survivability Engineer with deep expertise in system resilience, threat mitigation, and defense survivability to join our Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) team. In this high-impact role, you will lead survivability engineering efforts to ensure CUAS platforms can operate effectively in complex, contested, and evolving threat environments. As a Sr. CUAS Survivability Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Technical: Establishes the requirements for the protective technologies, export controls, and improved system assurance of the major end items that are owned by the Counter-UAS Product Manager. Works with the intelligence community to capture requirements of improvements to counter-act near peer threat systems. Provides classified requirements to the OEMs that support PdM C-UAS and tracks their progress to support the fielding resilient systems. Works with Foreign Military Sales to provide input to protect CPI and other technologies of C-UAS system that are selected to be sold to foreign partners. Works with the Protective Technologies office to ensure appropriate technologies are utilize to protect Critical Program Information. Ensures system protection and assurances best practices are followed.
- Trade Study Support: Conducts trade studies to evaluate different capabilities that provide system resiliency and system security requirements into radar, missiles, and C2 systems associated with PdM C-UAS.
- Documentation: Creates and maintains Program Protection Plans, Foreign Military Sales required documentation, and Security Classification Guides.
- System Assurance - Survivability - System Resiliency: Provides requirements for the Radar, Missile, EW and C2 software and algorithms to protect it against near peer threats that may degrade its performance.
- System Security Architecture Oversight: Ensures the system architecture is robust, scalable, and meets all system security/resiliency requirements.
- Risk Management: Identifies, assesses, and mitigates cost, schedule, and technical risks for System Security Engineering capabilities.
- Technical Governance - Compliance: Establishes and enforces technical standards, processes, and system security best practices for the Major End Items associated with the C-UAS Product Manager capabilities.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicates system security engineering technical information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Skills: Deep technical expertise System Security Engineering, Protective Technologies, CPI Assessments, Cyber, and/or Program Protection Planning. Requires leadership skills, excellent communication skills, working across Integrated Product Teams, and Cross-Functional Teams. 10+ years experience.
- PMO Interaction: Strategic partner to the Program Manager, AMCOM G2, and AvMC Protective Technologies. Influences program direction based on technical considerations and System Security Engineer requirements and initiatives. Presents threat assessments, near peer threat systems, and system assurance requirements for review and approval. Supports the PMO in managing changes to the system to improve system resiliency.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical field
- 10+ years of experience in survivability engineering, systems protection, or threat mitigation within DoD or defense industry
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Proven expertise in countermeasure design, vulnerability assessments, and resilience engineering
- Experience with EW, RF, directed energy threats, and cybersecurity principles
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, and RMF processes
- Strong technical writing, leadership, and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or related STEM field
- Prior experience supporting CUAS, missile defense, or electronic warfare programs
- Understanding of kinetic and non-kinetic counter-UAS defeat mechanisms
- Experience with digital engineering tools and survivability modeling/simulation
- Red Team/Blue Team participation or oversight
- Certifications in cybersecurity or EW (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CREW)
