Civil Service Title- Civil Engineer III

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Design Build and in coordination with Director of Design & Planning, the Design Build Project Manager is responsible for the coordination, oversight, and completion of the design build project including administration of related contracts for the Design Build project within the Design-Build and Emergency Contracts Unit.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Serves as the primary communication link between Owner's Rep, Design Build team, on Design, Construction and administrative activities related to assigned Design Build Project; Monitors and evaluates the performance of consultants and contractors; Assists the Director of Design & Planning in the evaluation of complex design reports, calculations, design plans, construction concepts and construction schedules for incorporation in the RFP; Conducts in-person inspection of field conditions and checks on the construction progress of project as the need arises; Oversees the implementation of the Technical Specifications for Design-Build project as required by the contract including the quality oversight; Ensures appropriate coordination during design finalization and resolution of comments from within DOT as well as other agencies Assures that all work undertaken is in accordance with Agency, City, State, and Federal guidelines and requirements; Represents the Division in dealing with other DOT Divisions, City, State, and Federal agencies, utilities, contractors, consulting engineers, the general public and all other public or private bodies on those matters related to the project; Performs additional significant administrative and engineering functions as determined by the Executive Director of BQE, Design-Build and Emergency Contracts.

CIVIL ENGINEER - 20215
Minimum Qualifications (1) Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; and (2) A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment. A masters degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required in "1" above. Special Note: In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
