Description
Alfred Williams & Company is seeking an experienced, relationship-focused Business Development professional to join our growing Nashville team. In this role, you'll take the lead in uncovering new opportunities, cultivating strong client connections, and opening doors that allow our teams to deliver exceptional workplace solutions. We're in search of a self-starter with proven success in consultative sales who thrives on building relationships and values collaboration. The ideal candidate already has strong, established partnerships within Nashville's commercial interiors, A&D and Commercial Real Estate Communities, and is ready to leverage those connections to drive new opportunities with Alfred Williams & Company. Note: This is not an Account Management role. It does not own quoting/proposals, order entry, project management, installation, or ongoing account service. Key Responsibilities
- Drive Growth: Identify and secure new opportunities across corporate, healthcare, education, and government sectors; book first meetings and lead initial discovery conversations.
- Report & Track: Use CRM tools for pipeline management-document activities, contacts, and generate sales reporting; provide regular updates on progress and next steps.
- Inspire Clients: Deliver compelling introductions and capability overviews that highlight AWC's expertise and solutions.
- Leverage Relationships: Strengthen connections with decision-makers, influencers, and referral networks, including A&D firms, brokers/GCs, and manufacturer partners.
- Handoff Opportunities: Join early client meetings, then provide a thorough BD to Account Manager (AM) handoff (stakeholders, scope highlights, budget signals, timeline, and next steps).
- Partner Internally: Collaborate with internal resources and leadership to align pursuit strategies and support must-win opportunities.
- Maintain Expertise: Stay up to date on AWC's offerings (furniture and interior construction) and key manufacturing lines (Herman Miller, Knoll, DIRTT).
- Represent the Brand: Serve as an ambassador at industry events, networking opportunities, and client-facing engagements.
- Reporting Line: Reports to the Market President.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years of success in business development or market development, ideally within commercial interiors, furniture, construction, or architectural/design-related industries.
- Education: Bachelor's degree, preferred.
- Sales Impact: Demonstrated ability to generate leads, secure first meetings, convert leads into real opportunities, build a qualified pipeline, and influence complex pursuits.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strength in presentations and stakeholder engagement.
- Organization: Highly organized and detail-oriented; skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and virtual presentation tools.
