Job Description:

Collaborates with faculty and academic offices to determine training needs designing solutions customized for Trinity University faculty. Working within the Information Services unit, develops and delivers comprehensive awareness campaigns, learning initiatives and training opportunities focused on educational technologies. Responsible for academic outreach activities including developing training materials and providing sessions, symposia and special technology events. May assist in the development of technological and pedagogical solutions for those in an instructional capacity on campus, as well as projects that synthesize the two. Performs a variety of tasks including consultations to select appropriate instructional tools and methods, large-scale instructional projects for Trinity classes and individual projects to support and promote the use of educational technology on campus. Works in close collaboration with the Education and Research Technology Committee and the Collaborative for Learning & Teaching to promote the adoption and effective use of instructional technologies on campus and foster a culture of technological curiosity and experimentation.
  • Promotes digital pedagogies in an innovative, inquiry-led curriculum, providing technical expertise. Designs and supports the implementation of digital applications and resources in faculty and student research and projects encouraging the imaginative use of technologies in teaching, learning and research.

  • Researches new instructional and academic technologies to provide individual, in-class and remote training opportunities that allow faculty to devise new teaching methods. Develops faculty outreach and liaison activities, including orientations and other events to increase engagement with and spark curiosity about instructional technologies.

  • Seeks opportunities to partner with other campus organizations (e.g. Coates Library, The Collaborative for Learning and Teaching, Tiger Learning Commons, Academic Affairs) and maintains strong relationships. Advocates for faculty needs by evaluating and recommending technology to be used in the classrooms and maintains current knowledge of faculty and student interests and activities (related to technology) by actively engaging with the campus community.

  • Creates content for multi-channel marketing campaigns and events aimed at increasing faculty and student awareness of instructional technologies and services. Develops learning materials, documentation and workflow.

  • Administers Learning Management Systems and consults with faculty to gather training needs and determine delivery preferences.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Required:

Master's degree in instructional design, education technology or related field. Work experience, above what is required, may substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

One year of experience designing workshops or other live trainings and producing supporting documentation, videos and digital learning content.

Experience with customer service orientation.

Preferred:

Background in teaching and/or public speaking.

Professional experience working with and supporting faculty.

Three years of experience designing workshops or other live trainings and producing supporting documentation, videos and digital learning content.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

Demonstrated skill in designing workshops or other live training.

Knowledge of educational technologies and trends.

Ability to learn new technologies and keep up with the pace of change.

Proficient skill with word processing and presentation platforms (MS Office, GoogleDocs, etc.)
