Overview

The Process Safety Engineer will manage site compliance with SNF Corporate PSM Polices and Procedures. The Process Safety Engineer must work in and have working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 as well as 40 CFR 68 (RMP). The Process Safety Engineer will work directly under the supervision of the EHS Manager and take steps needed to develop a more in depth knowledge of PSM regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure the site stays in compliance with SNF Corporate PSM Policies and Procedures at all times -Act as day-to-day contact for PSM for Flopam plants
  • Coordinate/Administer MOC program for the site
  • Conduct (or participate in) Contractor field audits
  • Ensure Process Safety Information for both process and equipment file is maintained and available
  • Participate in Incident Investigations related to process safety at site
  • Act as site representative (lead point of contact) for process safety related audits/inspections, both internal and external
  • Conduct internal audits of site activities related to Employee Participation, Operating Procedures, and Training.
  • Coordinate site PSM schedule to ensure PHAs and Audits are scheduled and conducted on time
  • Coordinate all HazOps for site
  • Participate in knowledge sharing with other site PSM Specialist(s) and Corporate PSM group to share best practices
  • Train new and existing employees related to PSM regulation and SNF program
  • Develop understanding of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
  • Report on PSM/RMP program activities to management.
  • Use and continued development of software used to administer portions of PSM/RMP program.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree - In Engineering or related scientific/technical degree (chemistry, biology, environmental science, etc.) - Required

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-10 years of experience in chemical facility operations, maintenance or engineering, and process safety

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Administrative Services\Certified Safety Professional (CSP) - Or ASP Certification - Preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organizational skills and capability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings (PHAs, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in organization
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement and the ability to make timely decisions
  • Become proficient VelocityEHS (EHS EMS Software) and ABS Leader (PHA Leader Software) user
  • Familiarity with MOC process, EHS Action Item Tracking, and PHA software a plus
  • ASP or CSP certification a plus
