Job Summary:
The Electric Power Sales Manager is responsible for leading the strategic and operational direction of the Electric Power (EP) Sales for the Energy & Transportation Division of Fabick Power Systems. This role encompasses overseeing sales operations, managing the annual business plan and financial budget, ensuring the achievement of sales and profitability goals, and fostering a customer-focused, high-performance culture. This position will also lead a team of EP Account Managers and Project Managers, drive sales strategies, and ensure the efficient management of EP assets and inventory. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished leader with a strong track record of driving profitable growth while promoting safety, teamwork, and integrity.
Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Budgeting:
- Manage the development and execution of the annual business plan and financial budget for the EP Sales division.
- Update and revise the budget annually in accordance with company guidelines, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Manage operational expenses within the department to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Sales Operations & Strategy Development:
- Direct all facets of a profitable EP Sales operation, developing and implementing sales strategies that drive growth and market share.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to achieve optimal inventory turns and return on assets (ROA).
- Develop short-term and long-term sales goals for the Fabick Power Systems division, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Team Culture & Leadership:
- Cultivate a team-oriented, integrity-driven culture that emphasizes quality, responsiveness to customer needs, and strong teamwork within the EP Sales organization.
- Lead the development of a professional, trained, and motivated staff through performance management and career development programs.
Customer Care & Training: - Ensure high standards of customer care are met and managed effectively, promoting customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Support team member training aligned with company strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
Employee Management & Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor EP Account Managers and Project Managers to ensure achievement of customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, and profitable growth.
- Conduct annual performance reviews, determine merit increases, and administer discipline as needed.
- Manage the hiring and termination of employees with approval from the Divisional General Manager.
Sales Performance Monitoring: - Monitor the sales team's performance to ensure the achievement of market share, revenue, and profitability goals.
o Maintain close contact with key vendor representatives and customers to ensure alignment and satisfaction. - Review and report competitive actions and market trends, providing insights for adjustments in strategy and report to Caterpillar and Fabick team members as warranted.
Sales Coverage & Customer Satisfaction:
- Utilize customer opportunity management systems and project management tools to enhance sales coverage and improve customer satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance: - Actively advocate for safety within the organization, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Cross Department Collaboration: - Foster a spirit of cooperation across departments, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Work within and promote the company's corporate vision, mission, and values.
Other Duties:
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure the overall success of the EP Sales division.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering is preferred.
- Previous power systems industry sales experience required (3 years minimum preferred).
- Previous management experience is preferred.
- Previous experience with Caterpillar Electric Power Industry products is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Electric Power Industry (products, equipment, applications) in order to deliver appropriate customer solutions and grow customer sales.
- Excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills.
- A charismatic team leader of people with outstanding people management, coaching and development skills.
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Teamwork oriented with an ability to work effectively with customers, Caterpillar, vendors, and across company lines of business.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to set and manage priorities.
- Knowledge and use of all Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and smart phones.
Physical Demands:
In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, write and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds. Up to 50% overnight travel in support of operations across Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Caterpillar Meetings.
