Job Summary:

As a Material Planner, this position requires expert knowledge of our SAP computer systems in order that total visibility to all our operational facilities can be viewed from a single location and for the purposes of establishing a vendor network and inventory control system corporate wide. Using the SAP forecasts, this position sets up the contractual purchase orders from which individual locations can release their plant packaging and ingredient needs. Material Planner, set up vendor qualification information to be fed into the SAP system and ensure all regulatory and internal documentation is received prior to materials being received. In addition to their multi-plant contractual purchases and inventory control, Material Planners prepare cost spreadsheets, management presentations, and vendor review evaluations and solicit quotations as directed by the Manager Corporate Materials.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Vendor appointments
  • Updates project files
  • Prepares analysis spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Issues and gathers information from all plant/copack locations.
  • Populates bid spreadsheets.
  • Request and reviews vendor documentation of materials prior to purchase.
  • Participates in internal conference calls and meetings.
  • Updates copack costing monthly.
  • Issues meat cost to copackers and internal customers
  • Places purchases orders as needed for the copackers.
  • Checks non-forecasted material status.
  • Updates cost saving spreadsheets.
  • Attends safety and fire drill meetings.
  • Supply's data for month end reports
  • Fills in for Administrative Support or other Planner in event of absence or away from office.
  • Chairs group conference calls

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of SAP computer systems
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and electronic.
  • Manufacturing knowledge
  • Excellent office equipment abilities

Education & Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Business or related field required.
  • One-year relevant work experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills to include SAP, Word, Excel, and Power Point

Working Conditions:

* Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • Office and Plant work environments. Possibility of being exposed to varying conditions in the Plant setting, such as cold areas, warm areas, chemicals, loud noise levels, and other site conditions.
  • Work in office environment revolves around use of telephones, personal computers, and printers.
  • Physical requirements of the position may include standing, sitting, and walking for greater than 1/3 of the day and seldom to occasional lifting of less than 30 pounds.
