About the Job

Duties and Responsibilities:
Drs. Sophia Vinogradov and Caroline Demro are seeking an individual with personal lived experience of a psychosis spectrum illness, such as schizophrenia, to provide guidance and feedback for two clinical research studies. Both studies are studying how medications change decision making and brain activity. We are trying to learn more about how decision making works in people with psychosis so we can help improve medical care in the future.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide feedback and guidance to the study team as a person with lived experience of psychosis. Previous experience in mental health service roles, in research, or statistics is not required for this role. We will provide education and training in research methods as needed.

The person in this role will meet with the study team early on in the project to learn more about the two studies. Then we will meet every three months to provide updates on how the research is going. We will provide summaries of anything that we have learned so far.

This role will provide feedback on several parts of the research. We are interested in gaining the perspective of someone who has experienced psychosis on our research methods and our research findings. For example, we might ask for advice on how to find and approach people to ask them to participate in the study. We may also ask for feedback on our study design, like how we can better support participants during research visits. We may ask for the perspective of a person who has psychosis when considering some things that we have learned in our research study. The person in this role is also welcomed to provide other feedback beyond what is specifically asked for.

100% - Consultation on clinical research projects
-Read summaries of research protocols
-Read summaries of research results
-Review supporting materials, such as recruitment materials
-Meet with the study team to discuss the research methods and results every 3 months (quarterly)
-Provide feedback on research methods, study design, and research results from the perspective of a person who has experienced psychosis
-Complete any training or education needed to understand the research methods and provide feedback to the study team, as needed
-Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
-BS with related experience
-Has lived experience with psychosis spectrum disorders. Lived experience should be personal experience with psychosis rather than a friend or family member of someone with psychosis
-Able to work up to 14 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior advocacy or consultation experience
