Milacron is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Batavia, OH. As a Chief Engineer, you will approve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic engineering designs, analyze sales order sheets and change notices for engineering content and impact, provide estimates, give daily direction to team members, and ensure team output meets required cost, quality, and timing. You will have full engineering ownership of design, execution, and performance for the product lines.

Work You'll Do:

  • Overall technical ownership of product line.
  • Responsible and accountable to ensure the product meets market needs.
  • Partner with DtV, VAVE, and GSM teams to ensure profitability.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Direct daily operations of assigned engineers, setting priorities based on customer needs and forecasting team capacity/demand.
  • Ensure customer requirements are understood and met, estimate effort on orders, track progress, and act as primary technical contact.
  • Ensure customer and field issues are resolved with quick containment steps and long-term fixes using formal problem-solving techniques.
  • Acquire and retain talent.
  • Conduct regular employee one-on-one discussions as well as conduct formal performance reviews.
  • Establish goals and expectations and ensure accountability in line with overall organizational goals.
  • Work with marketing/product managers to define new options and provide final approval on engineering designs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field. Including mechanical, electrical, plastics, engineering technology, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive engineering experience
  • Experience with Change Management
  • General knowledge of plastics processing machinery
  • Relevant experience with machine design, operation, safeties and industry standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in advanced design methods like DFSS, DFMEA, DFx, QFD
  • Experienced in various design phases including Development, Production, and Sustaining
  • Familiar with VAVE methods and structured problem-solving approaches like 8D and Six Sigma
  • Knowledgeable in Lean principles such as VSA, 5S
